It is considered as one of the largest construction of Britain and one of the most impressive creations of the early 1900’s in Europe. The famous Underwater Ballroom is built in Witley Park, near Surrey, by the multimillionaire Whitaker Wright, for hosting receptions and dances under water. Wanting to make an impression, Whitaker Wright decided to build a place of fun and celebration at the center of the lake, which was surrounded by a luxurious residence. And if this is not a strange story about a rich era, the location of the construction speaks for itself.

Twelve feet below the surface of the lake, the rich nobleman created a circular ballroom with windows, which are linked underground to the dwelling through major corridors of metal. Made of iron and glass, to reflect the natural light, the room features an intricate circular roof, on top of which dominates a small statue of the god Poseidon, which appears to float on the waters of the lake.
