In the summer of 2013 we had the chance to meet Oris Aquis Depth Gauge. That clock has attained a position as one of the most charismatic diving watches the time, standing out by presenting a new system to measure depth, a complication that to date was only available in watches whose prices could triple Oris’.

Two years later Oris tries again with another fantastic diving watch -for its quality and, above all, for its 48mm diameter- based on the model of 2013 to which it has been added a chronograph function. We are not big fans of divers with chronograph because they are kind of antagonistic watchmaking concepts (you cannot press buttons under water), but aesthetically it works well.

Available in two colours

The screwed winder is protected from accidental impact by a winder protection system, and its resistant sapphire crystal is 4mm thick -twice as thick as the conventional crystals average.

How does Oris’ depth gauge work?

Aquis Depth Gauge has an opening in the glass at 12 hours, which leads to an enclosed channel located on the outside of the glass that covers the dial. As the diver descends, the air is compressed into the channel, inletting the water into the opening and channel. This creates a watermark corresponding to the depth gauge’s yellow indication marked on the dial, giving the diver a clear depth reading.

Hipanema and Poiray fill our wrists with colour again

Poiray is an affirmed watch brand that has always been characterized by the Art Deco style of its models. Well, last year, after a trip to Brazil, the leaders were captivated by the atmosphere of Rio de Janeiro, and decided to change their habits, revisiting their classics and getting rid of any conventionalism, thus defending their love for sun, colour and activity.

Hipanema and Poiray watches

Searching here and there, soon they found Hipanema -a famous brand known worldwide for its colorful bead bracelets in a hippy chic style. The attraction between opposites was immediate, resulting in a joint venture which turned out to be the combination of the famous Ma Première watch with a band created by Hipanema.

The sensuality of this embroidered band with pink, golden and turquoise hue colored beads, with pending tassels in the same tones as if they were charms was such a smash hit that they decided to make four more bands that could be exchanged.

Different colours

After the success of that first collaboration, the two brands have decided to continue working together. This year, they just launched three new bracelets that encourage us to enjoy a festive and colorful summer full of style.

Hippy chic garments

These are a limited edition of 300 copies (of each color), and will go on sale from April in the Poiray boutiques and through its website. The price of the band is 120,00 euros. The price of the watch depends on the model you choose: You can opt for gold, gold and steel, or gold and diamonds. Do you like them?

Luxury watch collection from Chopard | XP Urushi

The luxury Swiss watchmaker Chopard presents a unique collection of watches called XP Urushi. Kiichiro Masumura, a Japanese artist, has supervised the creation of nine unique dials based techniques Urushi. The Urushi is the ancestral Japanese art of lacquering. The varnish is made from the sap of the tree Urushi, a tree which is mostly found in Japan or China. The harvesting of the resin can be done only once a year and in very small quantities. Three to five years after harvest, the resin is processed to make highly resistant honey textured lacquer. Applied in extremely thin layers sequentially. The Maki-e is a specific Urushi technique that consists of spraying lacquer with metal powder to accentuate the silhouette. The gold dust is applied using bamboo tubes and small brushes made from rat hair, for extremely fine lines. This art requires extreme expertise and only a few Urushi Masters including Kiichiro Masumura, still practice it today with craftsmanship.

The Chopard presents a collection of nine different techniques, which were supervised by Kiichiro Masumura, designed, painted and decorated with glitter from the company Yamada Heiando. These works represent the five basic elements of the universe, according to ancient Chinese philosophy of natural science and a illustrates the universe itself. The five legendary creatures, the dragon with a blue horn, the phoenix, the qilin in the moonlight, the tiger bent and genbu respectively cause the wood, fire, earth, metal and water. The final three tables feature a peacock, a red fish and a jungle. Each meticulously painted unique model reveals a wealth of original details imbued with a deep sense of poetry.

iWatch by Apple is certainly one of the most anticipated devices of 2013, and, as you know, its presence is no longer corresponds to a nasty rumor not going to become a reality. Even if it has not been official yet, a confirmation in fact came from iMore , which exposed all the plans of Apple. But here are the details: how could this rumored iWatch?
