The process of development of this fruit takes about two years, while the cultivation is done under specific Victorian gardening methods. A rare exotic pineapple costs no less than 16,000 euros each! Moreover, the most expensive fruit in the world is planted and thrives in a specific soil substrate containing horse manure and urine and some straw.
The luxurious harvest was recently done in the Cornwall’s Lost Gardens of Heligan gardens in the United Kingdom and has just 8 pineapples! The cost of cultivation for each individual pineapple reaches 1,700 euros, while the taste is explosive and with a unique aroma, as was said by the head of the Garden James Stephens.
It is worth noting, that the fruit is not available for sale as well as the staff of the gardens wants to keep them all for their own consumption! The price is estimated quite fair for the quality of the fruit, it is sufficient to consider that more than 90 tonnes of manure were needed for two years of development, and not just any dung, added the manager.
