A few weeks ago there was a rumor about the possibility that Apple could withdraw Fitbit products from their stores and it seems that finally it’s happened, at least in the Apple Store Online.
The reasons for this move aren’t very clear, but the fact’s that at the moment it’s not possible to buy any product from the manufacturer of quantifier devices and pedometers in the Apple online stores. In addition, there are also people who claim that these products have been removed from the physical Apple Store, although we couldn’t check this.
At first you might think Apple’s making some room for the arrival of Apple Watch and want to remove from the stores products that somehow could be considered direct competition. But if we look closely we see that it is still possible to buy similar products as UP24 bracelet Jawbone, the Withings Press or Nike + Fuelband SE.
Considering that other competitors of Apple Watch are still available in the Apple Store, we can only think that this Fitbit removal of the stores is an Apple’s punishment due to the fact that Fitbit won’t integrate their devices with HealthKit. This could have quite upset the company and owing to that the decision may have been to withdraw them completely from the Store.
The truth’s that there’s still no official announcement about the reasons, nor by Apple neither by Fitbit. We assume that in the coming days we’ll have some answers and one of the two companies will talk about this. There’s no denying that this is a slap on Fitbit’s face, because Apple’s website is one of the most visited websites in the world and the visibility obtained for having a presence in them has disappeared.
