The noble English House presents a new version of the Continental dedicated to racing and built in just 300 copies. The recent success of the fast Bentley Continental GT3 – at the second round of the Blancpain Endurance Series- pushed the noble British manufacturer to create this unprecedented and aggressive special edition of its Continental GT3-R.
Aesthetics: custom livery and new aerodynamic kit
Made in just 300 copies, this special Continental is available in white livery in Glacier White, paired with serigraphs declined in two shades of green and dedicated to embellish the sides of the car. The car body also gains a number of new aerodynamic parts such as the generous front splitter and large rear wing positioned on the bonnet that are in addition to aggressive air intakes on the bonnet and the refined aluminum alloy wheels 21 inch with matt black finish, wrapped in Pirelli tires measuring 275/35 R21.
Cockpit: abundant use of leather, Alcantara and carbon
The interior betrays its racing origins due to the abundant use of carbon fiber, Alcantara and leather. Its high-containment seats are upholstered in leather and Alcantara and feature contrast stitching, as well as the sports steering wheel, also made of leather and Alcantara, while the dashboard and the door panels and the central tunnel feature inserts precious carbon fiber. The rear seats have been replaced by a bench which allowed to reduce the total mass of up to 100 kg. Unfortunately, even with this change, the car continues to weigh as much as 2.2 tonnes, far too much for a sports car of its rank.
Mechanics: twin-turbo engine from 580 hp
Under the long hood of this special Continental there is a powerful 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine which in this configuration is able to deliver 580 hp and over 700 Nm of torque, distributed to the four-wheel drive, through the use of the eight-speed automatic transmission. To achieve this peak power and torque, the engineers of the Anglo-Saxon House have changed the engine electronics and the management of the two turbos, not to mention the change in the exchange rate with the use of shorter ratios.
According to data reported by the manufacturer, the Continental GT3-R accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 273 km/h. The power is kept at bay by a powerful braking system that consists of disc 8-piston calipers bite and made of composite material, which measure 420 mm front and 356 mm at the rear.
