Among the latest proposals of premium SUVs comes the Mercedes M-Class Coupe. Next year will be the debut of a brand new SUV with coupe shapes made by Mercedes and developed to compete with the now famous BMW X6. The new SUV-coupe of Mercedes-Benz will be realized by the excellent starting basic mechanics of the latest generation of the Mercedes M-Class, while the aesthetics take inspiration from the recent Mercedes SUV Coupe Concept, presented last April at the Beijing Motor Show.
A streamlined and aggressive car body, almost 5 meters long
4.94 meters long, 2.21 m wide well, 1.74 m high and with a wheelbase of 2.91 m, the car boasts measures far more generous than those offered in the X6, to the benefit of versatility and roominess inside. As mentioned above, the new model should keep the fascinating and futuristic car body of the prototype seen in the Chinese capital, characterized by a massive front, featuring a large front grille and generous air intakes finished with honeycomb grids.
The rear view will be appreciated particularly inclined to the rear window that touches the headlights that stretch horizontally in a single solution. The Teutonic SUV also will feature a long bonnet featuring two deep ribs, coupled with sculpted sides, able to boast a very high beltline and the presence of two doors on each side, as opposed to a direct competitor to the BMW House, with only one door per side.
The interior of the M-Class Coupe will be greatly appreciated due to the elegance and luxury of its components and its finishes. The car should also receive the latest generation of the sophisticated Mercedes Comand infotainment system, also used on the latest Mercedes C-Class and V Class and combined with the new touch-pad installed on the center console.
Turbocharged power units and 9-speed automatic transmission
The enormous size of the car will be powered by the mighty 3.0-liter petrol V6, with twin turbocharger, capable of developing 333 hp and 480 Nm of torque available between 1,400 rpm and over 4,000 rev / min. Lots of power gets on the 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive, through the use of dual-clutch 9G-Tronic Plus gearbox, with nine reports. In a second step, the range of ML Coupe will be expanded by the high-performance variant signed by AMG Atelier, armed with a powerful V8 bi-turbo 5.5-liter, capable of a peak power output of 525 hp.
The Mercedes M-Class Coupe – which might be christened with the name of Mercedes MLC – will be presented formally at the New York Motor Show 2015, scheduled for next April, while the debut on the international markets has been set for the end of the next year.
