Let’s face it; the vast majority of us could do with a little extra cash. The problem is that when you work a day job, it can be hard to figure out how to earn money in your spare time. We’re here to help – today we offer some practical and relatively fun solutions for lining your pockets.

Get online

The Internet presents a whole world of options for those seeking extra cash. Obviously, if you have the talent, you can play online poker or other online games with cash prizes. Alternatively, if you’re a super organised human being, you can put those skills to good use by becoming a virtual assistant, and being paid to book flights and accommodation, and to make calls. Take five minutes and sign up to great sites like Upwork, and People Per Hour.  As well as virtual assistant work, if you have a skill such as coding, design, writing or editing, you can source well-paid freelance opportunities. Another fab site for earning extra cash is fiverr.

Out with the old

Another way to earn extra cash (and a huge sense of satisfaction) is to go through all the old possessions cluttering up your attic, to see what could earn you some money. Old devices and electronics can earn you a decent amount if they are still in good condition. Ebay is obviously the place to start, or you could check out websites that specifically source mobile phones. You can also trade-in all those old books, cd’s, dvd’s and video games that you never so much as look at any more.

Making rent

If you have an empty property, a spare room, or a garden perfect for campers, you should sign up to be a host on Airbnb and make some money from welcoming guests. Another option is to hire out your garage, or your driveway to people needing somewhere to park their car. Check out sites like Parklet and Just Park. Another fun and lucrative option is to hire out your home to film and TV crews. Although inviting a film crew into your home can be disruptive – the money you get at the end makes it more than worth it. If you are blessed with a lot of storage space in your house, you can also rent this out for a nice weekly sum that could see you earn hundreds each year.
